High speed Ethernet interface unit reduces down time by allowing hot swap of I/O and providing support for advanced I/O modules.

GE Fanuc has introduced the Pacsystems RX3i Ethernet Network Interface Unit (ENIU), which makes it possible to use the GE Fanuc Pacsystems RX3i I/O and Series 90-30 I/O remotely on an Ethernet network.

Once set up by configuration, data exchange is completely automatic.

The ENIU is a high speed expansion unit that reduces down time by allowing hot swap of I/O and providing support for the advanced RX3i I/O modules.

It provides flexible control with the optional local logic for emergency shut down in the event that control is lost.

And it reduces additional cost by providing built-in serial ports for communicating to third party devices such as Modbus Master.

Features include 20Kbyte of optional user local logic memory (ladder, structure text and function block diagram), support for Pacmotion (DSM324 and Beta-is servo system), and optional local data storage.

There is support for a wide range of control modules such as discrete, motion, analogue (including Hart), Genius, Profibus and Devicenet.

There are two built-in serial ports - an RS485 serial port and an RS232 serial port to interface to third-party devices.

Also included are diagnostic tools and support for single or redundant controllers.

It supports single or dual Ethernet networks.

Any GE Fanuc master controller capable of exchanging Ethernet global data can provide system control.

The ENIU automatically provides the controller with status information in each exchange.
