Geomagic announces a new programme that helps customers rapidly implement and gain value from digital shape sampling and processing (DSSP).

DSSP bridges the physical and digital worlds, delivering substantial productivity gains in inspection, re-engineering and other manufacturing workflow processes.

The Geomagic Services programme emerged from an increased demand for the company's consulting work.

DSSP has been successfully implemented by Geomagic in applications such as customised surface modelling for finite-element analysis (FEA) at Kimberly-Clark; computer-aided inspection and digital reconstruction for NASA's Discovery shuttle mission; and engineering optimisation for a major automotive manufacturer that reduced NURBS surfacing time for complex objects such as engine and transmission housings by as much as 80%.

Geomagic provides the following services under the new programme: custom software development; consulting and engineering; implementation; and education and training.

"Companies worldwide are recognising that DSSP is complementary to CAD/CAM and has the ability to positively transform their businesses", says Ping Fu, Geomagic's President and CEO.

"Our new services programme extends our leadership role by helping companies implement customised DSSP solutions that have a positive impact on ROI and the bottom line".
