US software firm opens first branch in Tokyo in response to demand from design, engineering, inspection and manufacturing organisations in automotive, industrial and consumer sectors.

Geomagic, a software and services firm headquartered in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, USA, has opened its first branch office in Tokyo.

The Japan office was established in response to the increasing demand for the firm's products in Japanese design, engineering, inspection and manufacturing organisations, including automotive, industrial and consumer manufacturers.

It will provide service and support to Japanese automotive and electronics customers such as Toyota, Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Nissan, Mazda and Toshiba.

Geomagic resellers and measurement systems partners in Japan will now receive collaborative customer-focused sales support and local technical support.

The software lets engineers and designers transform scan data from physical objects into highly accurate digital models for applications such as digital shape reconstruction for mass customisation, reverse engineering and computer aided inspection.

"Our Japanese customers recognise the positive impact Geomagic brings to their design and inspection needs", said Jim Johnson, VP of Sales for Geomagic.

"Establishing this office demonstrates our commitment to Japanese industrial markets and manufacturing customers and supports our objective to increase customers' competitive advantage with Geomagic products".

The Tokyo branch joins other Geomagic offices in China, Singapore, Germany and Hungary.
