Geomagic has been awarded Technology of the Year by the Council for Entrepreneurial Development.

Geomagic has been awarded Technology of the Year by the Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED).

The honour, presented at CED's annual 2006 Entrepreneurial Excellence Awards, held last week in Durham, North Carolina, recognised Geomagic technology leadership in the field of digital shape sampling and processing (DSSP), which is the technology used for ensuring the safe return of the NASA STS-114 Discovery "Return to Flight" mission, digital reconstruction of the Statue of Liberty in New York harbour, and helping manufacturing companies move from mass production to mass customisation.

Accepting the award on behalf of all Geomagic employees, Ping Fu, CEO and cofounder said: "As a technology company, I am proud of our innovative technical team, and it is an honour our company will treasure".

"I thank CED for recognising our people's contribution to the technology world".

This is the latest in a series of recognitions the company has received, including National Entrepreneurial Company of the Year by Frost and Sullivan, and Mid-Size Company of the Year by the North Carolina Technology Association.

Ping Fu was also named Entrepreneur of the Year for 2005 by Magazine.

CED is a private, nonprofit organisation that was founded in 1984 to stimulate the creation and growth of high-impact companies in the greater Research Triangle area.

It provides programs and services in education, capital formation, mentoring and communications.
