Convergence 2007 will bring together Geomagic software users from around the world to share knowledge and mark the company's first decade in business.

Geomagic has announced plans for a global users conference in February Convergence 2007 will bring together Geomagic software users from around the world to share knowledge and mark the company's first decade in business as the worldwide leader in technology for digital shape sampling and processing (DSSP)

The Convergence 2007 keynote speaker will be Col Eileen Collins (Ret), the commander of the Space Shuttle Discovery STS-114 mission and the first woman to pilot the Space Shuttle.

Geomagic software technology played a critical role in ensuring the safe return of the astronauts on the "return to flight" mission by enabling NASA to capture, recreate and analyse digital models used to repair the shuttle's tiles while Discovery was in orbit.

"More than 5000 design professionals today use Geomagic software and services", says Ping Fu, Geomagic Chairman, President and CEO, who will also speak at Convergence 2007.

"Convergence 2007 is where the best minds meet to discuss new opportunities for the future of design and manufacturing".

"We are very excited that several Fortune 100 companies will present the latest applications of DSSP and that so many Geomagic users will be with us to help celebrate our company's 10-year anniversary".

Convergence 2007 centres on two days of workshops where expert users, technology partners, and Geomagic innovators will present best-practice advice for using the company's software suite, which includes Geomagic Studio and Geomagic Qualify.

Geomagic Studio is the world's leading software platform for automated digital reconstruction and is used extensively for rapid prototyping.

Geomagic Qualify provides an increasingly popular platform for part inspection, dramatically reducing tooling production times and increasing product quality.

"Geomagic technology enables mass customisation, a new approach that is fundamentally changing the way products are designed, engineered, and manufactured", notes Jim Johnson, Geomagic Vice President of Worldwide Sales.

"Geomagic software enables rapid productivity gains and accelerated product cycles that allow our customers to create customised products and services at the same cost as mass-produced goods".

"The use of Geomagic software has grown organically from its initial applications in aerospace and medical reconstruction to automotive, dental, turbine, and other design-intensive applications", Fu adds.

"The Geomagic user community is at the heart of a revolution in manufacturing".

Convergence 2007 offers the company's international customer base an opportunity to network with fellow users, company partners, and Geomagic management and staff.

The conference will start on 20th February 2007 with a networking reception followed by two days of knowledge exchange and interactive events.

Convergence 2007 will be held at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel and Convention Center in Durham, North Carolina, USA, near the company's worldwide headquarters.
