Interface protects level sensor from turbulence
Gentech has introduced the LI Series level sensor interface to enable magnetic reed switch liquid level sensors to handle inductive and capacitive loads and counter liquid turbulence
Switching, sensing and control system specialists Gentech International have introduced the LI Series level sensor interface to enable magnetic reed switch liquid level sensors to handle inductive and capacitive loads and counter liquid turbulence.
While magnetic reed switch liquid level sensors are ideal for switching DC resistive loads, inductive or capacitive elements can cause inrush currents or voltage spikes, shortening the operational lifespan of the sensor.
The LI Series of level interfaces feature a DPDT relay with 10 amp contacts, increasing the current handling capabilities for inductive spikes and inrush currents.
The Gentech LI Series also protects the sensor from spurious switching due to turbulence during liquid fill operation.
As the tank refills, the level sensor float may "bounce" causing unwanted switching.
The level interface features a built in electronic delay/damping circuit, with a typical delay of 10 seconds, to counter this and enhance the operational lifespan of the sensor.
Available in both AC, DC and low voltage configurations, Gentech level sensor interface control systems are supplied enclosed in quality plastic housings, with easily removed front covers and base and side knockouts, or in a polycarbonate housing with fitted cable glands, depending on the site and location.
