Garfield Hydrol is winning new orders from manufacturers of aggregate crushing and waste compacting equipment for its 6,000psi (413 bar) high-pressure cylinders

Hydraulic cylinders manufacturer Garfield Hydrol is winning new orders from manufacturers of aggregate crushing and waste compacting equipment for its power-packed 6,000-psi (413 bar) high-pressure cylinders that are capable of exerting a force of over 100 tonnes.

The cylinders, with a bore of just 180 mm, are a popular choice for heavy-duty applications, especially where aggregates are crushed and plastics need compacting for re-use.

One customer is Glasgow-based Saltaire Engineering, which manufacturers mobile, static and crawler crushers for the quarrying, demolition and waste recycling industry.

It has listed Garfield Hydrol as its preferred supplier after the success of an initial order for four cylinders, which power clearing rams used to remove material blocking cone crushers.

Saltaire's managing director Neil Wilson said: "I was impressed by the quality of Garfield Hydrol's cylinders, competitive prices, technical support and the company's understanding of fluid power principles.

These cylinders operate in a safety critical area and need to overcome a load of over 100 tonnes force each.".
