GKS offers CT scanning services

A GKS Inspection Services product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Feb 13, 2009

GKS Inspection Services, a provider of dimensional inspection, 3D laser scanning, and terrestrial scanning services, is offering computed-tomography (CT) scanning services and systems sales.

Customers have the option of sending parts to the company for scanning services or they can purchase their own CT scanning system.

High-accuracy CT enables the 3D scanning of parts with very complex internal geometry.

Visual access is not required for CT scanning so the process is claimed to be thorough and non-destructive.

It is a suitable measurement method for inspection of complex parts and assemblies that are too difficult to measure with conventional touch-probe or line-of-sight vision-based scanning technologies.

Customisable 2D and 3D inspections of small and medium-sized objects generate 3D XYZ scan data in standard file format outputs for inspection, reverse engineering and defect analysis applications.

Parts with small, complex and fine geometry from the medical and electronics industries benefit especially from this technology, since those types of parts are very difficult to measure using conventional, mechanical measuring equipment or even the most advanced laser-based scanning technologies.
