Gill Sensors is a new business within the Gill group of companies set up to provide a one-stop shop for position and level sensing needs.

The product range comprises rotary and linear noncontact position sensors, and level sensors for liquids and bulk materials (powders, grains).

The company offers standard sensors and a rapid custom design service to provide the best solution to customer's sensing problems, whatever the application.

Being completely solid state or noncontact, Gill's sensors are highly reliable and maintenance free making them ideal for use in harsh environments.

All products are designed and manufactured in the UK and with truly innovative technology the company reckons it is set to become a world leading position and level sensor manufacturer.

The range of noncontact position sensors is built around the company's patented "Blade" induction technology and covers a range of stroke lengths and angles.

Blade sensors are available in a standard package format where the sensing system comprises two parts, the sensor and a metallic activator.

More conventional linear and rotary formats are available where they can be used as drop-in replacements for potentiometers, LVDTs and RVDTs.

Onboard processing gives the Blade great flexibility such that the user can configure sensor parameters such as stroke length/angle, output format (analogue, PWM, serial) and independent switch points.

Gill liquid level sensors use capacitive or induction principles to determine the level of fluid in a tank.

The company has developed these principles to provide highly reliable sensors at a cost effective price, available in a range of configurations to suit the customer's application.

The bulk material level sensor uses an innovative solid-state technology with no moving parts to detect the presence of dry bulk materials in powder, grain or granular forms.

Where a standard sensor cannot meet a customer's requirement, Gill offers a complete custom design and build service as a cost-effective, fast solution for low- to medium-volume specialist sensor requirements.

Using the latest design and prototyping techniques Gill can offer its design and manufacture facility to customers with volume requirements from single to thousands of units.

Gill provides the complete service from initial concept to volume production.

Through its involvement in the Formula One motorsport industry the company has developed a capability to provide a very rapid response to customer demands for customised products.
