GlobalSpec has released SpecStation for MatrixOne.

GlobalSpec has released SpecStation for MatrixOne SpecStation is a Web-based component supplier management (CSM) application for the classification and sourcing of component content that allows engineers to search a rich database of parts and automatically enter the data into their MatrixOne system

Expanding on six years of expertise in providing a solution for content management and technical product discovery, GlobalSpec, in co-operation with MatrixOne, created SpecStation for MatrixOne to fill a critical gap in the enterprise value chain for managing product content that is highly searchable, rapidly accessible, expertly classified and specification-rich.

SpecStation for MatrixOne is designed to deliver three fundamental benefits to the enterprise: engineering productivity, speed-to-market for new designs, and measurable costs savings.

Anticipated financial benefits include a direct impact on cost of goods sold, reduction in inventory costs and shorter design cycles.

For Fortune 5000 manufacturing companies, this can translate into tens of millions of dollars in bottom-line financial impact.

Building on its partnership with MatrixOne, the leading provider of product collaboration solutions for the value chain, SpecStation for MatrixOne is available for plug-and-play into MatrixOne's Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) platform: the core collaboration platform, eMatrix, and the Value Chain Portfolio of business applications.

Combined, MatrixOne's value chain solutions and SpecStation for MatrixOne deliver a complete product definition throughout the enterprise.

"MatrixOne's solutions are designed to help foster business collaboration across global value chains, resulting in more innovative product, accelerated product development, and cost savings", said Sam Sawaideh, vice president of products and solutions for MatrixOne.

"By offering our customers the SpecStation capability which integrates seamlessly into their existing MatrixOne eMatrix solution and Value Chain Portfolio applications such as Engineering Central, SpecStation for MatrixOne will provide turnkey access to a vast database of component content that enables enterprises to realise measurable cost reductions and improved time-to-market".

SpecStation for MatrixOne provides integrated access to GlobalSpec's database, the largest repository of searchable mechanical, electrical and optical component data in the world, and a classification structure for purchased catalogued components that is mapped according to standards such as UNSPSC and NAICS.

SpecStation for MatrixOne enables part reuse and supplier rationalisation, resulting in an accelerated design process, accelerated time-to-market, decreases design costs and enhanced collaborative engineering.

"Organisations invest heavily in managing the development of highly engineered products, and a lack of investment around component sourcing has often resulted in series of problems, from potential quality issues and inflated part inventories, to an inability to reuse parts and unnecessarily long design cycles", said Jeff Killeen, chairman of GlobalSpec.

"With SpecStation's rich component content and best-of-breed classification, such problems cease to exist, delivering significant productivity, financial and speed-to-market benefits to the enterprise".

SpecStation for MatrixOne is now shipping.
