Global Automation Products has announced the A5 range of cam-operated rotary switches designed to control variable speed drives.

The A5 is a four-position switch and has current ratings from 16A through 125A and is available both open and enclosed.

The switches carry full approvals, including UL.

The A5 VFD control switch performs the following functions: off position - the incoming power is not connected to the drive, bypass, or set-up functions, also no incoming power is directed to the motor; drive Position - the incoming power is directed to the drive and the drive's output to the motor, this is the normal position of the switch; bypass position - power is routed directly to the motor but no power to the drive, this enables the user to supply the motor directly and allows the application to keep running in event the drive malfunctions; set-up position - the incoming power is directed to the drive only but not to the motor - this allows the user to set-up the drive for calibration and fault diagnostics.

The switches come complete with standard handles and two auxiliary contacts as standard in bypass and drive and set-up positions.
