Gamma Technologies is continuing its affiliation with Formula SAE as both a corporate and supplier sponsor for the 2003 competition year.

Gamma Technologies is continuing its affiliation with Formula SAE as both a corporate and supplier sponsor for the 2003 competition year Held annually as part of the Society of Automotive Engineering's (SAE) Collegiate Design Series, Formula SAE brings together engineering students from dozens of universities from around the world

Students design, fabricate, and compete with small formula-style racing cars.

Restrictions are placed on the car frame and engine so the students' knowledge, creativity, and imagination are tested.

As a sponsor, GTI will be making GT-Suite licenses available to Formula SAE teams, subject only to an administrative fee of $100.

GT-Suite is the industry's de facto standard engine modelling software for design/analysis, and is being used by virtually all the world's leading automotive companies and engine-consulting firms, including GM, Ford, Chrysler, Honda, Audi, BMW, Daimler-Benz, FEV Motorentechnik, Southwest Research Institute, and Cosworth Technology.

In addition, many NASCAR, Formula 1 and IRL racing teams use GT-Suite to maximise their competitive advantage.

Schools using GT-Suite during the 2003 Formula SAE include 2002 champion Cornell University, University of Alberta, University of British Columbia, Concordia University, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Kettering University (formerly General Motors Institute), Helsinki Polytechnic, University of Ulster, Florida Institute of Technology and Delft University.

In addition, GT-Suite was also used by the second place finisher in the 2002 competition, The University of Wisconsin-Madison, and by the 2002 Formula SAE Australasia champion Rochester Institute of Technology.

"The Formula SAE competition gives engineering students a taste of real world automotive engineering challenges - tight design and production deadlines, stringent quality and safety standards, and a demand for high levels of performance and creativity of design", said Steven F Daum, SAE Collegiate Programmes Manager.

"We appreciate Gamma Technologies offering GT-Suite to Formula SAE teams.

By supporting the competition, as well as the individual teams, Gamma Technologies is making an important contribution to the education of the next generation of automotive engineers".

"The Formula SAE competition represents one of the most important events of the year for automotive engineering students, and GTI remains committed to its success", said Dr Thomas Morel, President and Founder of GTI.

"The competition is an example of how co-operation between engineering schools and industry can make a positive contribution towards the development of tomorrow's engineers, today".

A single GT-Suite licence will allow Formula SAE team members to perform engine performance analysis with the industry leading engine simulation code, GT-Power, as well as perform valvetrain dynamic analysis (GT-Vtrain), full vehicle drive cycle and fuel consumption analysis (GT-Drive), crankshaft/mounting system analysis (GT-Crank), cooling system analysis (GT-Cool), and fuel injection system analysis (GT-Fuel).

Participating teams in Formula SAE 2003 will meet and compete in Pontiac, Michigan from 14th to 18th May 2003.
