Short courses in bulk solids handling

The Wolfson Centre is running a programme of short courses during 2009 to attract engineers from the area of bulk solids handling.

The centre is part of the School of Engineering at the University of Greenwich The courses are aimed at managers, skilled operatives and maintenance crew or anyone involved in the flow of powders and bulk solids, including manufacturers of such machinery.

Content includes the basics of operation of powder and bulk solids handling equipment, understanding materials, causes and solutions to common problems, design and selection of plant components.

Course fees include course handbook, refreshments and a course dinner after the first day.

The Overview of Particulate Handling Technology course is on 6-7 October 2009 and costs GBP680 per delegate.

Topics include: vessel types and reliable flow; characterisation of materials; pneumatic and mechanical handling; and feeder interfacing.

The Pneumatic Conveying of Bulk Solids course is on 17-18 November 2009 and costs GBP680 per delegate per course.

Topics include: components of pneumatic conveying systems; design techniques; diagnosis of operational problems; interfacing storage bins to conveying systems; operational problems and effects on system design; all aspects of system selection and operation; and correct design of systems for reliable operation.
