UK-based Granitek produces precision granite castings of all shapes and sizes, mainly for machine base structures and frames.
Compared to traditional casting methods, the cast granite has advantages in reduced final machining, dimensional stability, low thermal expansion and the ability to absorb vibration.
These factors are increasingly important as the required precision of machine designs increases towards the nano range.
Granitek is finding customers in areas including X-ray scanning, lens polishing, microscopes and centrifuge machines.
According to the company, it can help customers to optimise the design of any type of precision machine to include the advantages of precision cast granite.
