Engineering consultancy company Carl Bro is rebranding itself as Grontmij.
The rebrand unites Carl Bro's experience in the UK and Ireland, Denmark and Sweden, with Dutch parent company Grontmij's established market position in Holland, Belgium, Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic and Hungary.
Grontmij acquired Carl Bro in August 2006.
Lawrence Hughes, UK and Ireland Managing Director of Grontmij, said: "Grontmij has a fantastic heritage across continental Europe as one of the region's most respected engineering consultancies".
"Together, we command a strong presence in the UK and Europe, and combining our complementary values and synergies under a unique single identity cements our position as the region's fifth largest engineering consultancy".
"Our ambition now is to make the Grontmij name as synonymous with project excellence as Carl Bro is in the UK".
"We want to build on the Carl Bro brand and enviable reputation it has achieved, whilst reinforcing the strategy behind the union of our two companies".
With an annual turnover of GBP 484 million (EUR 720 million) and over 7000 employees worldwide, Grontmij boasts four areas of expertise in the UK, including transportation, building and environment, water and systems.
Nelson Ogunshakin, Chief Executive of the Association for Consultancy and Engineering, said: "This move by Carl Bro adds to the vitality of the UK's consultancy and engineering sector, which continues to grow despite challenging conditions".
"Carl Bro has demonstrated its commitment to helping shape the future of our industry and is actively involved on the ACE board".
"Under the Grontmij name, I'm sure they will be ideally placed to develop this commitment further"".
"One of Carl Bro's flagship projects has been the design and site supervision of the surface works, cut and cover tunnel, and mechanical and electrical systems of Dublin's GBP 495 million port tunnel".
"Taking more than five years, the 4.5km project has been widely acknowledged as Ireland's largest civil engineering project and has created the longest urban motorway in Europe".
"Mr Hughes said: "Whilst our name is changing, customers can be confident of receiving the same high standards of service they've become accustomed to".
"As a business, we're moving forward, uniting our expanded resource base and looking forward to helping customers capitalise on Grontmij's expertise".
The company's UK head office will remain in Leeds, supported by bases in Edinburgh, Bristol, Glasgow, Wrexham, London, Solihull, Dublin, Cumbria, Peterborough and Reading.
