Great Lakes Chemical Corp is to increase prices worldwide for a range of its polymer stabilisers, effective for shipments after 1st January 2005, or where contracts allow.

Prices will increase for Great Lakes polymer stabiliser product groups as follows: Anox and Alkanox main antioxidants - up to 15%; Anox, Alkanox and Lowinox specialty antioxidants - up to 11%; Lowilite hindered amine light stabilisers - up to 7%; and Lowilite benzophenone UV absorbers - up to 6%.

The company stated that the new pricing is driven by continued increases in raw material, energy, and transportation costs.

"Great Lakes is committed to continued support of the growing polymer stabiliser market", said Maurizio Butti, Executive Vice President, Polymer Stabilizers.

"These price increases will ensure the long-term supply viability of our products, allowing continued investment in innovation and service, new capacity and extended product lines".

Great Lakes antioxidants provide both processing and long-term heat stability to an extensive range of polymers.

UV absorbers and hindered amine light stabilisers prevent polymer degradation due to UV radiation from sunlight and other sources.
