Drives and Controls Show, which takes place at the NEC between 16th and 18th May, to feature live demonstrations of two-axis linear positioning and transfer modules.

Planetary gearboxes will be showcased by systems integration and automation equipment firm Gudel UK alongside the company's latest developments in precision work handling and linear drive technology on stand D58 at the Drives and Controls Show, which takes place at the NEC between 16th and 18th May Live demonstrations of Gudel's ZP series two-axis linear positioning and transfer modules will form the centrepiece of the company's presentation, underlining the pick-and-place equipment's high speed and high acceleration capabilities - as well as accuracy and repeatability

The planetary gearboxes are for high dynamic applications.

The five-strong range features a two-stage drive gear arrangement, which results in a compact design, with low mechanical inertia and a torque range of 250 to 6000Nm.

The units' taper roller bearings are close to the drive flange, to provide torsional and axial stiffness, as well as longer service lives.

Simple mounting of a wide range of motor options ensures high application versatility, making the gearboxes suitable for high precision, high efficiency, low noise power transmission.

Also on show at Drives and Controls will be the company's standard and high performance worm drive gearbox units.

Available in six sizes, each with a choice of eight reduction ratios, Gudel standard worm gearboxes have coupling options to meet various user requirements.

The range includes NA and FA units with solid output shafts, and NH and FH variants with hollow output shafts.

All models incorporate bronze worm gears with hardened and ground worms - for high performance and long service life - and are supplied with a backlash of between 15 and 18 minutes of arc.

The gearboxes' die cast aluminium housings also provide heat dissipation properties and are machined on all faces for mounting flexibility.

The AE series servo worm units are available in six model sizes, with a choice of 11 reduction ratios from 2:1 to 47:1, and incorporate eccentric flanges and hollow output shafts to enable worm and wheel backlash to be adjusted quickly and effectively between three and six minutes of arc.

Their purpose-designed input clutch and output shaft disc plate couplings reduce torsion and backlash to improve gearbox performance.

Other Gudel products to be highlighted at Drives and Controls include the company's recently-extended range of precision linear and drive technology components for machine tool, automation and special machine building applications.

The additions cover Gudel's range of precision drive pinions, racks, rollers, carriages and guideways and are suitable for installations demanding high speed, high acceleration or precise positioning of components weighing up to several tonnes.

Produced in module and metric sizes up to module 8.0 and 25mm pitch, the company's drive pinions ensure high accuracy and low backlash operation when used with its matched series of straight or helical form rack units.

Racks can be supplied in steel with precision cut, precision cut and hardened, or hardened and ground steel forms capable of withstanding loads up to nearly 80kN.

They are also offered in stainless steel and special finishes to combat aggressive or corrosive operating environments.

Injection moulded rack units are available for light to medium duty applications.

All racks are made to close tolerances, ready for use in continuous runs without modification.

They can be supplied with pre-drilled mounting holes for rapid fixing.

The rack and pinion ranges are complemented by various heavy duty plain and grooved rollers and guideways - enabling users to engineer complete systems for component handling and automation.
