Subtle differences in cosmetic appearance were evaluated by golf marketing decision-makers.
Additional testing conducted with the most promising media resulted in refinement of processing parameters, firm definition of the desired surface condition, and finally, agreement on a "new look" for the line of clubs.
The finish decided, primary importance was placed on a controlled and repeatable process to ensure uniformity and consistent quality across the full range of club shapes and sizes.
Automated equipment must efficiently process a high volume of mass produced consumer goods.
Production of clubs in different sizes, left- and right-handed, with varying hosel angles, required design and fabrication of many different fixtures to present each club head to blast in the proper orientation for complete coverage of all aspects.
Additional considerations in fixture design were ease of putting components on and taking them off, reasonable resistance to abrasion, and the ability to hold the club head rigidly in position.
A Guyson Model RXS-800 rotary indexing spindle-blast system with direct pressure media delivery to four nozzles was installed to cope with the high volumes and quality required.
This link with Guyson continues with Ping Europe's UK operation where a refurbishment service is available to golfers whose favorite clubs have seen better days.
Ping Europe offer a fast turn round service imparting a good as new finish to clubs with a recently installed Euroblast 6 pressure feed system.
The benefits to Ping of working with Guyson on these global projects are the uniformity and consistency of product aesthetics and ease of project management.
