Remanufacturing specialist goes to blast
cleaning

ATP Automotive Transmission have invested in a Guyson Delta 500 Airless, hook loaded, twin wheeled blast cleaning machine and a Guyson Storm, front loading, aqueous washer.

ATP Automotive Transmission, one of the UK's largest remanufacturing specialists, have responded to their customers' increasing requirements for a superior finished product from an ever more critical end consumer by investing in a Guyson Delta 500 Airless, hook loaded, twin wheeled blast cleaning machine and a Guyson Storm, front loading, aqueous washer The parts, automatic transmissions, weighing around 125kg, are first degreased in the Guyson Storm, prior to blasting, then lifted by crane hoist and suspended on a rail system and pushed into the blast chamber

Suspending the parts in this way minimises shadow areas when blasting which in turn cuts down blast rework, the parts being processed at a rate of two every six minutes.

Remanufactured transmissions by the Guyson process enable ATP to supply customers with superior units that perform and look like new.

Plant Manager, Marc Smith said "Our customers have very strict cleanliness standards of '100 milligrams of contamination per unit'.

This used to be a problem with the previous table based blast machine using steel shot because of the residue film left after blasting, which also necessitated rewashing of the part.

Not any more.

More effective blasting in the Delta 500, coupled with a special Guyson blended media, means contamination has almost been eliminated.

The media, though aggressive for cleaning, is very low wearing and creates virtually no damage to threaded areas eliminating further manual repairs, previously a major problem.

Also substantial reductions in hand detailing on awkward areas, has led to massive time savings".

Marc expected great things after the initial trials at Guyson's demonstration facilities in Yorkshire had proved so successful, but had never expected the scale of benefits in finance, time and improved working environment that have already been delivered.

"We originally made projections based on a return after the first year but have been staggered at the benefits to the company within the first few months.

The system is already paying its way.

On this process we have halved our labour requirements, greatly improved the product we supply and created a much healthier working environment for our workforce." ATP Industries Group Ltd.

are headquartered in the UK at Hednesford in the heart of the industrial Midlands and have further production facilities in China, Holland and France, all coping with local demand for quality remanufactured parts.

ATP have experienced high levels of growth over the last two decades.

With a heavy investment programme in specialist equipment coupled with a professional approach to business, they have become the automatic choice in remanufactured transmissions for up to 25 original equipment manufacturers. Request a free brochure from Guyson International ...
