And after two years of running and to cope with demand for its product (fire extinguishers) FPS has come back to Guyson for another.

Compatible with both 'online' and cell manufacturing systems, the unit features a totally enclosed conveyor path of approximately 7m long, along which components of various lengths can be carried at a constant speed, through a programme of firstly degreasing and washing, then phosphating, followed by two separate rinsing operations, before final drying to produce a high quality phosphated surface free from filming or staining.

Components are fed into the system from either a conveyor, pick and place unit or manually at a height of approx 1070mm, and then moved through a series of four identical stainless steel wash chambers to be processed using a sequence of heated, water based, degreasing, phosphating and rinsing solutions pumped under pressure through a series of spray jets positioned on all four sides of each chamber.

After the second rinse each component passes through the oven chamber, operating at 110C, for the fifth and final drying operation.

Between each pair of wash chambers an exhaust system extracts steam and vapour to prevent emissions occurring from the entry and exit points.

The speed of the flat bed, stainless steel, honeycombed mesh conveyor can be varied between 150-750mm/min to allow the flow of components to be balanced with the throughput of the production line and also to ensure that each item is allowed a sufficient time for thorough processing.

The conveyor can also be time indexed to stop for a preset period at pre-selected stations.

Included within the high build quality of the machine are stainless steel pumps and pipe-work and to ensure that high standards of surface cleanliness are achieved and maintained disc skimmers and washable 200-micron filters have been installed to continuously separate oil and other contaminant's from all recycled wash solutions.

Marr-Line is a modular concept which caters for various types of handling including; fixtured, indexed and twin track, with belts available in stainless steel, galvanised or a polymer belt is fitted when delicate parts are to be washed such as glass.
