Gefran has expanded its MK and IK range of magnetostrictive linear displacement transducers with new Profibus DP interface versions featuring parameter-based GSD file setup.

Gefran has expanded its MK and IK range of magnetostrictive linear displacement transducers with new Profibus DP interface versions featuring parameter-based GSD file setup.

With stroke lengths from 50mm to 4000mm, Gefran's new MK4-P (profile version) and IK2-P (rod version) are aimed at applications requiring integration in complex processing and automation systems, especially over long communication distances and where data transmission must be rapid and secure.

Magnetostrictive sensors guarantee longer life thanks to the almost total absence of wear due to friction between moving parts.

The durability of the technology suits some of the most arduous applications in hydraulics systems, servo drives and robotics.

The cursor and the sensitive element can be completely separated, so that high-protection housings can be created for the sensor.

In addition, because this is a highly advanced technology, it benefits from integrated control electronics to achieve extremely high precision (in the order of 1um) and facilitates the use of a wide range of interfaces.

MK and IK linear displacement transducers are also available with analogue, digital, synchronous and CANopen interfaces.

The entire range can control from one to four cursors on a single sensor.

On the profile version, sliding or floating cursors can be used for easier installation.

On the rod version, different types of magnets (including floating) are available to permit installation in the widest variety of applications, from inside cylinder to level control.

The transducer is attached with three connectors, making installation quick and easy.

An M8 connector is used for the power supply which allows the transducer to be powered without connection to the bus for easier configuration.

Two M12 connectors are used for bus connection, eliminating the need to create T connections to insert the transducer in a network.

A wide range of mating connectors and other accessories is available.
