Gefran launches AC inverter drives

A Gefran SIEI UK product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Oct 17, 2008

Gefran UK has launched its SieiDrive ADV20 and ADV50 low-power, multifunction micro AC inverter drives.

Designed to satisfy the full range of voltage/frequency (ADV20) and sensorless vector (ADV50) applications in the sub 15 HP range, these drives provide an easy-to-use, space-saving product range that offers an excellent price/performance ratio.

The ADV20 is available in power ratings from 0.4kW (0.5HP) to 2.2kW (3HP) for single-phase supplies, and up to 3.7kW (5HP) for three-phase supplies.

The ADV50 sensorless vector version is rated to 11kW (15.0Hp).

These drives are CE, UL and cUL certified and include a removable 'Y' capacitor to permit use with IT mains supplies, and have an integral EMC filter on all 230V/460V models.

Providing a wide range of usable features and benefits the ADV range features a built-in keypad and seven-segment LED display module to ensure easy set-up and operation, while an onboard potentiometer permits direct control of the master frequency.

In addition, the ADV20 drives can also be programmed from a PC using the 'ADV20 PC Tool Configurator' software - this tool provides several online functions including parameter list programming, integrated oscilloscope, trend recorder, plus the saving, loading and comparing of parameters.

For connection to high-level control systems the ADV range features RS485 serial communications with Modbus protocol as standard, while connectivity to fieldbus networks including CANopen, DeviceNet, Profibus and LonWorks are offered via an optional plug-in module.

The connector layout and cooling design of the ADV permits drive modules to be installed side by side (40C ambient), saving panel space and providing a product that is quick and simple to install.

The addition of DIN-rail mounting and a removable cooling fan further simplifies the installation and maintenance processes.

Furthermore the DC bus of multiple ADV drives can be parallel linked together, enabling sharing of the regenerative braking energy - this arrangement can help prevent over-voltage trips, promotes DC-bus voltage stability and allows the sharing of a single optional braking module by several drive units.

All ADV drives feature complete protection functionality with high-precision current detection, full overload protection, over-voltage/over-current stall prevention, short-circuit protection, reset after fault, speed search function and motor overheat protection by PTC.

Capable of solving a wide range of application requirements, the SieiDrive ADV family of AC inverter drives are suitable for use in conveyor and transportation machinery, small HVAC and pump equipment, packaging/process and material handling machinery, plus a broad range of general automation applications.
