A Hale Hamilton (Valves) product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team May 16, 2006

Hale Hamilton and iGas Technology Solutions are collaborating to deliver state-of-the-art turnkey solutions for the deployment of automated medical gas single cylinder filling systems.

Hale Hamilton, a leading valve and fluid control device and systems manufacturer, and iGas Technology Solutions, specialist supplier of technology and engineering systems to the gases industry, have signed a strategic partnership that will combine the expertise of both companies to deliver state-of-the-art turnkey solutions for the deployment of automated medical gas single cylinder filling systems.

The partnership brings together 60 years of valve manufacturing and equipment supply from Hale Hamilton with extensive expertise in gas cylinder filling plant design, project execution and process control from iGas.

The partnership gives customers a single source solution for the commissioning, deployment and management of cutting-edge gas cylinder filling plants.

"This is a very exciting development in the gas cylinder filling arena, bringing together two of the performance-leaders in their spheres and offering turnkey solutions that no other single-source supplier can match", comments Ian Davies - Industrial Sales Director, Hale Hamilton Valves.

"iGas is a best-in-class company with unrivalled expertise and we are very pleased to be partnering with them on this initiative".

"Our companies have collaborated closely in the past and following discussions, both management teams agreed that there was a clear market need for a single source supplier of turnkey medical gas cylinder filling solutions".

"Together we can deliver 100% quality assured solutions that improve plant productivity and meet all the safety and validation criteria for medical oxygen, breathing air and diving air cylinder filling", comments Rob Lee - Business Director, iGas.

Hale Hamilton's SCMF single cylinder medical cylinder filling system provides a core component to the integrated solution.

This offers excellent flexibility and control to users, eliminating repetitive manual tasks and reducing filling times.

Repeatable and consistent mass of gas can be filled and fill pressures can be preselected for different applications - allowing multiple applications to be filled from the same panel.

Cylinders can be filled from any residual pressure up to 300bar and the system offers simplified push button control to reduce training requirements and speed up operation.

The SCMF can be customised for specific applications, offering significant improvements in productivity and throughput over manual systems.

iGas offers the complete plant design, integration and validation with much of the system built and tested off-site, significantly reducing installation time and disruption at the customer facility.

Cylinders are filled individually by weight and flow control and all details during the fill are recorded automatically against a batch and cylinder ID.

The system is paperless with all records being stored electronically, giving the plant user full access via a web interface to data including latest tanker analysis, latest vessel analysis (liquid batch), operator ID, fill cycle details and batch cylinder analysis.

SCMF systems are built as a single workstation module comprising four filling points, suitable for 1, 2 and 10 litre (integral valve) cylinders.

This state-of-the-art medical oxygen filling system package has been developed to provide clients with a system that meets and exceeds all the requirements of a medical filling system: safety, productivity, quality and validation:.
