Hardide Coatings has appointed Mark Telford as Technical Sales Manager to drive the company's sales in the international valve coatings market Telford joins from BEL Valves in Newcastle on Tyne where he was Project Manager since June 2003, managing multi-million-pound key accounts

He previously spent 20 years in various engineering, machining and customer-facing positions within BEL Valves and other BEL Group companies.

Oxfordshire-based Hardide applies tungsten carbide coatings by chemical vapour deposition (CVD) to components manufactured from a wide range of steel, alloy and other materials.

The patented technology uniquely combines abrasion and corrosion resistance in one coating and is proven to offer dramatic cost savings to the valve industry through reduced downtime and extended life.

Batch processing and a one-stage in-house finish process means that Hardide can offer the fastest turnaround time in the industry.

Jim Murray-Smith, Chief Executive of Hardide commented: "Valves in the oil and gas, refining, chemical and power sectors are under increasing pressure to cope with abrasive and corrosive environments".

"We have proven our ability to prolong the life of complex valves in a wide range of high-end applications and Mark's appointment is a reflection of our confidence in the benefits that Hardide can offer this growing market".
