The 1594 Series from Hammond Electronics is a family of thick wall small enclosures, intended for applications where there is a high likelihood of damage as the result of dropping or impact Moulded in either flame-retardant UL94V-0 ABS or low cost high impact polystyrene, the enclosures are available in five different sizes ranging from 56 x 56 x 28mm to 167 x 107 x 53mm

The wall is an average 3.3mm thick; the top fits to the base with a lap joint, giving an IP54 rating.

An optional waterproofing kit, recommended for external use, increases the environmental protection to IP65.

The ABS versions are fitted with brass bushes and machine screws to facilitate repeated openings; the polystyrene units are closed using countersunk self-tapping screws.

Optional board guide mouldings enable PCBs to be mounted horizontally or vertically and a belt clip is also available.

The ABS units are produced in black and grey as standard, the polystyrene versions in grey.

Both materials have a matte surface finish.
