Compact enclosure comes to hand
The 1599K is the latest handheld unit to be added to the established Hammond Electronics 1599 family of small instrument cases.
Plan sizes are 85 x 170, 110 x 220 and 140 x 220mm.
In the two smaller sizes, the slope is on the short side; the largest unit is available with both long and short slopes.
The short slope units have one or two removable panels at the rear; the long slope version has one panel and is available with or without a battery door.
The units are moulded in either flame-retardant ABS or low cost polystyrene in grey and black as standard colours.
The sloping top features a recessed area to accept a membrane keyboard; PCB guides are moulded into the inside and the very shallow 9mm deep base section has moulded-in PCB standoffs.
A lap join construction provides protection against dust and moisture to IP54.
In the ABS version machine screws and brass inserts are used to secure the two halves together, the polystyrene units use self-tapping screws.
