At Railtex 2002, Harting is featuring a broad spectrum of connectors for rail applications, including a number of new products.

Being introduced at the show is the Han 48 HPR high-current connector, which is ideally suited to use as a motor connector in trains, trams and rapid transit systems.

The new connector is based on Harting's well established HPR range of hoods and housings, which are EMC compatible, corrosion resistant to IP68, and vibration proof.

The connector assembly can hold up to six HC 350 modular inserts, each rated at 350A, if wire of 35-120mm2 is used, or four HC 650 inserts rated at 650A each if 70-185mm2 wire gauge is used, giving a total capability of 2600A.

Also featured is a new coaxial connector module designed to meet the increasing demands of the rail industry for the transmission of audio and video signals for passenger information and in-train entertainment.

The new module, part of the Han-Modular range of heavy-duty industrial connectors, allows integration of the coaxial cable interface and any other power or signal connections into a single connector housing, making installation and coupling between carriages simple and straightforward.
