Harting has made a number of additions to its RJ Industrial Ethernet connector family which feature IP67 class protection against dirt, dust and fluids.

The IP67 data variant of the RJ Industrial connector offers all the advantages of the modular RJ45 data module with Harting's patented Harax quick-fit technology.

The housing, which is available in metal or plastic and in straight and angled versions, is based on the company's established Han 3A family.

The coupling end of this connector is completely compatible with standard RJ45 connectors, making it possible to use standard patch panels for service and testing purposes.

An alternative push/pull version of the IP67 data connector uses a new locking technique.

The data lines, with conductor cross-sections of up to AWG22 are attached via the RJ45 data module using IDC (insulation displacement connection) technology, and the connector housing is locked to the coupling via a circumferential interlocking bush.

With this approach, the connector can be locked and unlocked using only one hand with a minimum amount of force.

The housing is very compact despite its high protection level and, with dimensions of only 27 x 21 mm, it occupies no more space than an M12 socket.

This makes it the world's smallest Industrial Ethernet connector based on RJ45 and IDC technology.

The Harting RJ Industrial connector family was specifically designed for use in Industrial Ethernet systems, and is the world's only RJ connector which can be attached to both solid and stranded Ethernet cables with a cross-section of AWG22 using IDC technology.

The heart of the connector is the RJ45 data module, which incorporates four Harax quick-fit contacts which reliably bond Category 5e cables (AWG22-24) with solid cables (AWG22-23).

It meets the requirements for "power over MDI" as specified in IEEE802.3 AF.
