Bus terminals save panel space
Big space savings in control panels and field-mounted terminal boxes can be achieved by using new Beckhoff eight-channel high-density bus terminals.
Big space savings in control panels and field-mounted terminal boxes, along with significant cost reductions, can be achieved by using the new Beckhoff eight-channel high-density bus terminals from automation and control expert, Hayes Control Systems The new bus terminals are designed for use with Beckhoff bus couplers to permit the construction of compact input/output assemblies which are compatible with virtually any fieldbus system

Control system slash response times
XFC represents a control technology that enables very fast and highly deterministic responses.
Mounted on inexpensive and readily available DIN-rail, these assemblies can also make use of other terminals in the extensive Beckhoff range, to incorporate analogue I/O, serial ports and even power switching for motors.
The new eight-channel bus terminals from Beckhoff, for whom Hayes Control Systems is the exclusive UK distributor, are currently available in two versions.
Type KL1408 provides eight 24V DC digital inputs, while type KL2408 provides eight 24V DC outputs rated at 0.5A each, with a maximum loading for the whole bus terminal of 3A.
Both versions incorporate LED status indicators, and are just 12mm wide, occupying the same amount of space as a conventional two-channel unit.
Common connections for input circuits in the KL1408, and for output circuits in the KL2408, are brought out to a single terminal, which reduces and simplifies wiring.
The KL2408 output bus terminals are suitable for use with resistive, inductive and lamp loads, and incorporate short-circuit, overload and reverse-polarity protection.
KL1408 input bus terminals feature integral filtering to minimise the effects of contact bounce in electromechanical input devices.
The new bus terminals are compatible with the full range of Beckhoff bus couplers, which is available to suit all commonly used fieldbus protocols, including Profibus, Interbus, DeviceNet and Modbus, as well as Beckhoff's own optical-fibre based Lightbus.
Up to 64 bus terminals can be connected to each bus coupler, providing a maximum of 512 input/output channels.
For larger installations, the terminal bus extension unit allows the connection of 255 bus terminals, equivalent to a maximum I/O capacity of 2040 channels when the new KL1408 and KL2408 units are used.
