A new, ultra compact IP-Link extension box is now exclusively available in the UK from Hayes Control Systems, to complement its existing range of fieldbus devices.
A new, ultra compact IP-Link extension box is now exclusively available in the UK from Hayes Control Systems, to complement its existing range of fieldbus devices.
Designed to suit applications such as direct connection of multipole valve terminals, the extension box features 16 digital 24V DC outputs at a low price per channel.
The small yet powerful IE2808 extension box is the latest addition to Beckhoff's IP67 fieldbus box module series.
Each of its channels is short-circuit proof and offers diagnostic capabilities, while a 25-pin D-sub connector enables connection to outputs.
Each output is also designed for connecting digital actuators on a very small mounting surface of 30mm x 126mm.
The extension box provides 0.5A at 24V DC for each channel, with a total current of 4A for all connected outputs.
Mark Bates of Hayes Control Systems commented, "we are currently seeing a huge growth in the number of devices with dedicated IP addresses".
"This can often cause problems for fieldbus users wishing to extend their networks".
"However, the IE2808 offers an exceptionally compact, inexpensive solution".
At a control level, the IE2808 can be connected via a coupler box to a variety of fieldbus interfaces, including PROFIBUS, DeviceNet, CANopen or Ethernet.
The modules were designed for direct connection of multipole valve terminals, which in many cases feature a D-sub connector.
The extension box is rated to IP67, offering a high level of protection against dust and water.
It also displays the switch status of the signals via 2 LEDs (representing outputs 1-7 and outputs 8-16), with a visual warning appearing in the event of a channel being affected by a short circuit.
The exact position of the fault can then be queried and the cause rectified via the fieldbus.
