Haydonkerk offers Clean Motor solution

A HaydonKerk Motion Solutions product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Feb 19, 2009

Haydonkerk Motion Solutions, a manufacturer of linear motion products, has introduced the Haydon Clean Motor for contamination-sensitive applications.

Designed for clean-room environments and environments within systems under high vacuum, Haydonkerk's Clean Motor products are designed to limit contaminants and out-gassing.

Provided that the motor operates below its rated operating temperature, Haydon Clean Motors will survive in a vacuum down to 10-8 Torr.

To ensure the minimum amount of out-gas in a vacuum environment, the Clean Motor product undergoes special handling and uses parts fabricated in a proprietary process.

The Clean Motor is made of non-volatile materials, which are cleaned using ultrasonic equipment and then vacuum-baked at a high temperature to extract contaminants.

In addition to Teflon wires and high-temperature windings, Haydon Clean Motors contain stainless-steel bearings with special lubrication.

Out-gassing is the result of a lack of motor cleanliness, which is often created by contaminants present during the manufacturing process or even the slightest contact with a human hand.

Clean Motor products are processed to consider all possible contamination sources and are then sealed in double bags for handling under clean-room protocols.
