Dassault Systemes and Hibbitt, Karlsson and Sorensen (HKS) have signed a development agreement making HKS a partner within the CAA V5 Software Community Programme.

Under this agreement, HKS will integrate Abaqus technology within the Catia V5 user environment to provide integrated access to the industry-proven advanced simulation capabilities of Abaqus.

Catia V5 analysis solutions deliver a unique set of knowledge-based structural analysis tools, embedded within an intuitive and user-friendly collaborative environment that supports fast design-to-analysis iterations.

This initiative will extend the Catia analysis environment to provide advanced simulation capabilities, such as nonlinear and thermal analysis for Catia users, based on a natural and familiar user interface.

The Abaqus and Catia V5 integration will enable sophisticated simulation within a design environment powered by the world's most advanced finite element solver.

"Boeing uses both Catia and Abaqus as essential design, analysis and simulation tools", said Rod Dreisbach, Senior Technical Fellow and Emeritus Chairman of the Boeing Technical Fellowship at the Boeing Company.

"We are pleased with the directions of the planned initiative between Dassault Systemes and HKS, and we look forward to helping refine the end-user requirements of the integrated system within the Catia V5 infrastructure".

"Our partnership with Dassault Systemes is strategic for HKS and our joint customers, especially in the aerospace and automotive sectors", commented Mark Goldstein, President and CEO at HKS.

"With major customers driving us to extend their deployment of Abaqus technology to a wider audience within the enterprise, this initiative will significantly enhance key aspects of the product development process".

Gerard Lecina, Director, Research and Development, Catia CAE Solutions, Dassault Systemes, commented, "We are very excited about this partnership with HKS.

The integration of Abaqus with Catia is enabled by the open CAA V5 architecture that provides generic and domain specific frameworks, supporting advanced CAE applications.

A comprehensive and native integration of Abaqus with Dassault Systemes' 3D PLM solutions is crucial to support the end-to-end customers product lifecycle management".
