The latest development of HBM's ML70 module enables the inclusion of information from the global positioning system (GPS) to enhance mobile data acquisition.

When fitted into the MGCplus and MGCsplit universal amplifiers, the ML70 GPS module supplies longitude, latitude and height above sea level both synchronously and in parallel.

Vehicle speed is computed from the geographic co-ordinates and additional information, such as the number of visible satellites, GPS time/date and GPS signal quality, can also be provided.

Any conventional GPS receiver that supports data export via a serial interface in NMEA format can be connected to the module.

Users familiar with CoDeSys can write their own programs and download them to the ML70 GPS.

The ML70 GPS is based on the IEC61131-3 standard and is freely programmable.
