Torque transducer integrates signal conditioning

A HBM UK product story

Digital torque transducer claims new standards by integrating high precision measurement and analysis tools.

HBM's latest T12 digital torque transducer claims new standards by integrating high precision measurement and analysis tools - such as monitoring and diagnosis functions - for automation systems while ensuring maximum reliability.

HBM has introduced the T12 to markedly reduce the development times required in the automotive industry.

The T12 measures torque, rotational speed and angle, power and temperature with maximum precision.

All measurement signal conditioning is fully integrated in the transducer to greatly increase the quality of the signal and reduce measurement uncertainty.

The T12 is the first transducer that combines the flexibility of digital signal processing with high measurement accuracy and a large measurement frequency range.

The torque transducer's accuracy is proven by the fieldbus specification of the torque signal and the frequency output: linearity deviation including hysteresis is +/-0.02%, optional +/-0.01%; relative standard deviation of reproducibility is +/-0.01%; temperature effect on the sensitivity is +/-0.03%/10K; and temperature effect on the zero signal is +/-0.02%/10K, optional +/-0.01%/10K.

The T12 provides a large measurement frequency range from 0 to 6000Hz (-3dB) enabling highly dynamic test benches and measurements to be simulated.

Since the resolution of torque measurement effectively reaches the physical limits of strain gauge technology, switching of measurement ranges is not required.

Internal aliasing is prevented by the high sampling rate.

CAN parameterisation and the T12 Assistant control software ensure easy maintenance and use.
