HBM introduces CFW piezoelectric force washers

A HBM UK product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Feb 19, 2009

HBM has launched its CFW piezoelectric force washers for applications such as production monitoring.

The force washers are said to be extremely compact, enabling easy, direct integration into the force flow in assembly and testing applications, for example.

HBM’s compact force washers are particularly suitable for production monitoring applications.

The measuring body features a split diaphragm (patent pending), ensuring higher linearity than conventional designs.

According to the company, perfect test results are attained even if forces are not applied centrically.

The design, which features high torsional stiffness, automatically centres the sensor through its external and internal diameter without producing any hysteresis errors.

The CFW piezoelectric force sensor is claimed to be suitable for use in harsh industrial environments.

Integrated plug protection prevents mechanical damage to the measuring lead.

The CFW sensor is initially available with nominal forces of 50kN and 140kN.

As its sensitivity of 4.3pC/N is independent of the measuring range, all common assembly and testing applications can be covered.

The sensors are used in combination with CMA-series charge amplifiers, which are also suitable for use in harsh industrial environments.
