HBM launches mobile data acquisition systems

A HBM UK product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Jul 15, 2009

HBM has announced the release of its newly acquired Somat Edaq and Edaqlite data acquisition systems.

Somat systems have been used in field data acquisition for more than 25 years, servicing Fortune 500 companies in the automotive, off-highway, aerospace and defence industries.

Engineered for stand-alone testing in the harshest of environments, Edaq systems provide signal conditioning and a capacity to perform a broad range of on-board data processing, triggering and complex mathematical computations.

They are fully sealed from the elements yet modular and flexible with support for a wide range of vehicle bus and GPS options.

Edaq systems utilise standard Ethernet communications, and host their own web servers with configurable IP addresses.

No software is required to start/stop test or upload data.

This combination allows the Edaq to communicate through wireless WWAN modems, bypassing corporate firewalls to give users access to their system anywhere in the world.

Somat systems are said to be simple to use, enabling engineers to overcome complex engineering design challenges and gain customer usage knowledge.

Data collected from Edaq systems help customers eliminate unforeseen failures by measuring durability, performance and operational data from which intelligent business decisions can be made that improve product life performance (PLP) and reduce costs.
