Alcoa Fastening Systems (AFS) has obtained SBAC (Society of British Aerospace Companies) approval.

Alcoa Fastening Systems (AFS) has obtained SBAC (Society of British Aerospace Companies) approval.

Marking the completion to a number of improvements, including a redesigned locking configuration and optimised ease of installation, the requalification was granted, having originally been issued in 1997.

Passing rigorous tests set by AFS and in turn Rolls Royce, which through the use of its aero engines, supervises testing for SBAC, the certificate of qualification clarifies conformance to the exacting requirements of technical specification No 41.

AFS already hold a production certificate in accordance with regulation 21.134 of the Civil Aviation Safety Regulations by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority Australia.

Designed to repair damaged or create strong new screw threads, Recoil products are claimed to be easy-to-install threaded inserts, taps and installation tools.

They accommodate a variety of applications in the automotive aftermarket, electronics, power generation, aerospace and transportation industries.

Allan Binstead, ommercial Director at AFS, said: "Although we already have British Aerospace approval and our quality systems are ISO9001, QS9000 and AS9100 (Quality Systems Aerospace) compliant, this requalification rubber stamps the quality and high performance offered to our customers".

"Speed and ease of installation is also vital and the new design Recoil inserts, available on strip feed reels combined with purpose designed pneumatic tools, will show productivity improvements and result in lower installation costs?.
