Fasteners aid French trailer curtain production
A manufacturing business based in Northern France has saved production time using fasteners developed by a UK engineering company.
From its factory site located at Balbigny in the Loire acquired from Trouillet in May 2005, the company manufactures 800 units per year, 80% of which are sold in France and 20% throughout the rest of Europe.
Alcoa Fastening Systems (AFS), with Huck fasteners as a key brand, engineers high-quality, high-performance fastening systems serving a variety of applications predominantly in the truck, trailer, commercial vehicle body builder, auto and railcar markets.
Located in Telford the company has a dedicated commercial sales team and well established distribution network throughout France and the rest of Europe.
Samro uses a number of fasteners in the construction of its trailers including Hucktainer, Magna-Grip, Magna-Lok and Magna-Bulb.
With a five year plan which includes selling their assembly technology to newly established factories in Serbia, Russia, the Czech Republic and Portugal, Sandro Massabieaux factory manager at the Balbigny plant is well aware of the benefits derived from using Huck products and tooling in the construction of Samro trailers.
He said: "This plant has been using Huck fastening systems since 1987".
"The installation system is easy for our operatives to learn, the fasteners easy to install and based on the integrity of the resulting joints Samro trailers are high quality products that meet the necessary vibration resistant standards expected from our customers".
Marc Ait-Ouarabi, Customer Manager for AFS in France, said: "Although Samro use four fasteners each one has its own benefits, for example, the Hucktainer is specifically designed to avoid crushing the composite when joining it to the trailer frame and a low profile providing a neat tamper-proof finish".
