The MD of a UK manufacturer has been promoted to a global management position, a role that will see him move to join colleagues in the USA.

Alcoa Fastening Systems (AFS), which engineers high-quality high-performance fastening systems serving a variety of applications predominantly in the truck, trailer, commercial vehicle body builder, auto and railcar markets, has appointed Jim Arnold as Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Industrial Products Global.

Although the promotion is with immediate effect he will continue to work from the company's Telford site, relocating his family to Waco, Texas mid 2007.

Arnold's aim will be to maintain and improve AFS Industrial's position as a preferred provider of innovative, high-integrity fastening systems.

His will focus on global implementation of sales, marketing, distribution and product sourcing strategies which leverage organic growth and new product commercialisation.

As a result of Arnold's appointment Marcus Lokier, who has been with the company for seven years, will become the new Operations Director and current Management Accountant, Will Waterston will succeed him as Financial Controller.

Both Lokier and Arnold will report to Don Busby, President AFS Industrial Fasteners.

Commenting on his new position, Arnold said: "AFS Telford continues to be a very successful company".

"I am confident that the internal promotion of Marcus and Will and the continuity that this brings will ensure the continued success of the business".

"AFS has a strong record of internal promotion; I started with the company 15 years ago as the management accountant and now hold a position with worldwide responsibilities and the opportunity to live and work in a new country".
