Honeywell has introduced a limit switch designed for fast, easy wiring by OEMs in applications such as elevators, moving stairs, scissor/platform lifts, material handling and food and beverage

Honeywell Sensing and Control has introduced an innovative, patented limit switch designed for fast, easy wiring by Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) in a variety of industry applications including elevators, moving stairs, scissor/platform lifts, material handling and food and beverage.

The EVN2000 Series has a fully enclosed casing, no removable external parts, and uses Insulation Displacement Terminals (IDT) to cut installation time by up to 50%.

The new design eliminates the need for access inside the housing, thereby making a housing cover, cover screws and gaskets unnecessary.

The method of connecting the cable automatically provides cable sealing and strain relief, avoiding the need to purchase and store separate cable glands.

The EVN Series Limit Switch offers a snap action 1 NC/1 NO operation, with a 4 mm air gap and a choice of 4 actuator types.

It is designed to meet the switch requirements of EN 81-1:1998 and is CE marked according to EN60947-5-1:1998.

It has a modern aesthetic housing in black plastic, and conforms to EN50047, making it interchangeable with many existing products.

Traditional limit switch installation involves opening the switch by removing part of the enclosure, stripping the ends of the cable, clamping the conductors using terminal screws and finally, using a separate cable gland to seal the cable.

Insulation Displacement Terminals (IDT)* eliminate the need to strip the insulation off the cable's inner cores, and require only the outer jacket to be removed.

The inner cores are placed into a plastic insert, which separates and aligns them to the internal switch circuit.

The simple action of pushing the insert into the housing and screwing down one nut, not only ensures electrical connection, but also seals and provides strain relief for the cable.

Controlled tests carried out by Honeywell indicate a 50% reduction in the time needed to wire a switch.
