Nelson Shea elected to RIA Board
Sensing and control safety standards expert Roberta Nelson Shea has been elected to the Robotic Industry Association Board of Directors - the first woman to serve in this capacity.

Nelson Shea, Safety Business Development Manager for Honeywell Sensing and Control, has been active in the RIA since its inception 20 years ago, and has been active in its safety standards development throughout her tenure.
Since 1993, she has chaired the ANSI robot safety standard committee: ANSI/RIA R15.06.
R15.06 is widely viewed as the premier safety standard within North America and beyond.
As an active leader for RIA, she speaks at conferences and leads global workshops about safety, safeguarding, risk assessment, and robot applications.
Nelson Shea, who began her Honeywell career in 1982, works with Honeywell customers to maximise productivity by effective use of safeguarding solutions.
Beyond RIA, Nelson Shea has been active in ANSI safety standards committees for over 20 years.
She is currently the Chairperson of the US Technical Advisory Group for ISO10218 (Robots) and the Technical Expert for the US Technical Advisory Group for ISO11161 (Integrated Manufacturing Systems).
She also leads Honeywell training sessions and workshops covering a variety of safety issues, applications, regulations, and standards.
Her leadership in safety-related products and applications earned her honours at the 2000 Robotics Forum and an award for work on the T800 Program with General Motors Truck Group.
