Lindon Roberts has been elected as the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE) UK Affiliate Deputy Chairman for 2006.
Lindon Roberts, a Business Development Manager with the specialist engineering consultancy Haden Freeman, has been elected as the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE) UK Affiliate Deputy Chairman for 2006, at the organisation's recent AGM.
The ISPE is the international society of choice for technical professionals in the regulated health care manufacturing industries, with over 23,000 members worldwide.
Roberts' appointment as Deputy Chairman of the ISPE UK precedes his appointment to the position of Chairman, which will commence in March 2007 for a 2 year term of office.
Roberts has been a member of the ISPE since 1991 when he was involved in setting up the first regional committee for the UK Affiliate in the North West and served as Treasurer and Chairman of the region before becoming UK Affiliate Secretary.
He was awarded the UK Member of the Year Award in 1998 and in 2005 received the Distinguished Contribution Award while serving as ISPE UK News Editor.
Regarding his appointment, Roberts said: "It is an important time for the ISPE UK Affiliate as we have just embarked on a 5 year strategic plan to position ourselves as the pharmaceutical organisation of choice for UK industry professionals".
"It is therefore vital that, as the next UK Chair, I continue to support the programme I have helped to develop and then drive it forward in a seamless way during my term of office from 2007 onwards".
Roberts began his career in the pharmaceutical industry in 1976 at Glaxo Montrose where he was a member of the design team for the greenfield site at Annan.
He has since worked in supplying equipment and engineering solutions to the industry in various roles and is currently enjoying promoting the modular build approach of SmartLab, SmartPlant and HAPI Lab that Haden Freeman's Engineered Technologies Europe supply to clients such as AstraZeneca.
