Manchester-based specialist pharmaceutical and chemical engineering company Haden Freeman has announced a partnership with Cardiff-based Park Place Research.

Manchester-based specialist pharmaceutical and chemical engineering company Haden Freeman has announced a partnership with Cardiff-based Park Place Research.

HFL - Park Place, which launches this month, will be the only company in the UK to offer a complete service - from process research through to design and build of fully integrated modular units.

The partnership brings together two highly specialised companies and will offer a much expanded range of services to the pharmaceutical industry.

The company is equipped with specialist skills in crystallisation, automated process research, crystallisation development and process modelling.

Its joint expertise enables it to predict and control the scale up of batch crystallisation processes from laboratory right through to production.

Particle sise distribution or crystal form can have significant effects on filtration properties and drying times.

However, HFL - Park Place is able to optimise processes in these areas enabling significant improvements in process cycle times and reproducibility.

HFL - Park Place is also skilled in process analytical technology (PAT); managing data from unit processors to ensure increased manufacturing capability.

It has in-depth knowledge of process validation and technical risk management and the integration of these approaches avoids duplication of efforts, resulting in strategic advantage in the short and long term.

Haden Freeman is already well known for its proficiency in building and designing pharmaceutical ingredient (API) plants while Park Place Research has extensive experience in strategic process research and development.

In addition to crystallisation and PAT, the partnership will offer a new range of services including comprehensive integration of skills from research to engineering and strategic process design and development.

It will also provide development of processes which are easily controlled and repeatable as well as a risk-based approach to development which recognises key roles and quantifies levels of tolerance.
