Novel technology gives unlimited range to the latest XL/7 series of inline process viscometers from Hydramotion.

Novel technology gives unlimited range to the latest XL/7 series of inline process viscometers from Hydramotion.

An XL/7 can measure the dynamic viscosity of any fluid in real time anywhere, under any process conditions, with excellent repeatability.

The sensor is mounted in the full flow of the fluid with no need for any special pipework, and can be supplied with any process fitting, eg flanged, threaded or hygienic.

It can be mounted in any orientation, being unaffected by fluctuations in flow or the presence of bubbles or particulate solids.

The XL/7 has very high sensitivity, yet the patented sensor architecture naturally rejects plant noise and vibration.

The standard sensor is constructed from 316 stainless steel, although special alloys such as Hastelloy or other materials can be used if required.

In addition, a high-polish, PTFE or custom finish can be applied.

Long-reach sensors are available for measuring fluids in inaccessible places such as deep tanks or wide-bore pipes.

Viscosity is always measured at the process temperature and measurements can be corrected to a reference temperature.

High-temperature models do not require special cooling.

All models are available in intrinsically safe versions, which are fully CENELEC and ATEX certified for hazardous area operation.

Viscosity is displayed on a separate signal processor unit, which can be located up to 3000 metres from the transducer.

Output includes a 4-20mA analogue viscosity signal and a serial datalink for continuous viscosity monitoring and control, either on a stand-alone basis or integrated into a plant-wide control or Scada system.

Every instrument is factory-calibrated to traceable international standards, so on-site calibration is not necessary.

Installation is simple, and with no moving parts an XL/7 requires virtually no maintenance.
