Viscometer handles large temperature range

A Hydramotion product story

The Hydramotion XL7-HT2 provides continuous real-time viscosity measurement of fluids at up to 450C without any special cooling.

Hydramotion has introduced an upgrade to its high-temperature range of XL7 online viscometers.

The Hydramotion XL7-HT2 provides continuous real-time viscosity measurement of fluids at up to 450C without any special cooling.

This upgrade widens the variety of applications for the Hydramotion XL7 while simultaneously enabling the company to streamline its range of high-temperature viscometers, as the new XL7-HT2 can be used as a drop-in replacement for either of the earlier HT2 and HT3 models.

The new high-temperature viscometer can also be supplied in an intrinsically safe version certified to ATEX Ex II 1G for Zone 0 hazardous areas (Class 1 group 1 Div A).

If hooked up to a PRT or a temperature transmitter, any XL7 viscometer can be configured to display viscosity corrected to a standard reference temperature.

The XL7 sensor always operates at the fluid temperature, thus eliminating potential errors from localised cooling of the fluid.

It is suitable for applications as diverse as oil blending, polymer production or specialty chemicals processing.

It is a field-hardened device with no moving parts, requiring no on-site calibration and virtually no maintenance.
