It has good adhesion and is formulated for use with aluminium components.

Loctite 5209 seals close-fitting joints between rigid metal faces and flanges, and provides a low-pressure seal immediately after assembly.
It is resistant to motor oils, transmission fluids, water and glycol mixtures, and petrol.
Typical applications include the sealing of gearbox and engine casings.
5209 is a low odour, anaerobic sealant that cures in the absence of air when confined between close fitting metal surfaces.
It is easy to apply to horizontal or vertical joints and will not cure prior to assembly.
Cure time is dependent on temperature, with full strength obtained after 24hrs at 22deg C or only 30 minutes at 40deg C.
An activator can be used to speed the curing process.
Liquid gaskets allow metal-to-metal contact between flanges, maintaining bolt tension throughout the life of the joint and eliminating fretting corrosion.
The sealant can be applied manually or automated using screen-printing or a robotic dispenser such as a Loctite product dispensing system.
Automating the application process eliminates errors due to variances in operator technique or fatigue, providing consistency and minimising wastage.
It ensures that the optimum quantity of sealant is applied to the joint, reducing costs and saving time.
