Nuclear grade products stick to their tasks
Henkel Loctite Adhesives has a new range of nuclear grade products specifically designed for use in the maintenance of nuclear power stations.
Henkel Loctite Adhesives has a new range of nuclear grade products specifically designed for use in the maintenance of nuclear power stations.
They join the high performance range of adhesives, sealants and surface treatments that have been designed to withstand the exceptionally harsh operating conditions found in these environments.
The new range comprises Loctite 2432 threadlocker, Loctite 5772 sealant and Locite 6482 retainer.
All are approved to PMUC, the French approval for products and materials suitable for use in nuclear power stations.
All the products have a low halogen and sulphur content and have been specifically developed for use with sensitive metals like titanium, which is used extensively in the nuclear industry.
Supplied in 50ml bottles, the products have the same outstanding strength, versatility and durability as their standard stable mates.
Loctite 2432 is a medium strength threadlocker that prevents the loosening and leakage of threaded fasteners.
It is suitable for use with less active substrates such as titanium, stainless steel and plated surfaces and is ideal for applications such as pump or motor mounting bolts and equipment housing screws, where disassembly with hand tools is required for servicing.
Loctite 5772 is a medium strength sealant with fast curing properties.
Easily identified by its yellow fluorescent appearance, it is ideal for sealing threaded metal fittings.
It is particularly suitable for use with stainless steel without the need for surface activation.
Loctite 6482 is a high strength, retaining adhesive that is resistant to high temperatures.
It is ideal for bonding cylindrical parts such as gears and sprockets onto gearbox shafts, and rotors on to electric motor shafts.
These new products form part of the extensive Loctite range of products for power station maintenance that also includes lubricants, adhesive/sealants, epoxy filler, low friction ceramic coating and instant adhesive.
Used in nuclear, oil, coal, gas and hydro power plants throughout the world for preventative maintenance and emergency repairs, they provide an immediate solution to a range of maintenance problems, minimising downtime and reducing costs.
To assist users with the selection of products from the range, Loctite has produced a wall chart describing each product and highlighting typical power station applications.
Copies of the wall-chart are available free of charge using the reader reply service.
Loctite nuclear grade products are available now from stockists and distributors throughout the UK.
