Loctite introduces five new epoxy adhesives to its RTG structural range which are stronger, more durable, have better clarity, are easier to mix, simple to apply and produce less odour
Hovercraft's fasteners locked in place securely
When faced with the severe thread-loosening vibration generated by the Wildcat hovercraft he was building, MJE Managing Director Mick Holdaway, remembered the power of Loctite liquid threadlockers
Typical areas of application include air compressors, gearboxes and engine casings.
And because the stick's semi-solid formula allow precise application, only the right amount of sealant is necessary - thereby eliminating wastage.
Also using anaerobic technology is Loctite 668 - a medium strength retainer created for the bonding of cylindrical metal assemblies.
It is used to remove backlash from worn splines and keyways, and to bond parts such as bearings, sleeves and bushes.
Loctite 534 is a gasket positioner designed to hold pre-cut gaskets in place during assembly.
It can be applied to all rubber, cork, paper and metal gaskets.
Like the original products in the stick range, these semi-solid compounds present the same ease of use.
It is simply a case of removing the cap, twisting the base of the container and applying the product to the surface in question.
"These sticks have the same qualities and strength as the more traditional bottle-based products, yet are much smaller in size", says Colin Chapman, Marketing Manager at Henkel Loctite.
"That means they can be carried in an engineer's pocket - or occupy very little space in a tool box".
"Furthermore, they complement perfectly the existing range of threadlockers, sealant and anti-seize products".
"In each case, the adhesive can be pre-applied to the surface in question shortly before use and, because of its thick consistency, will remain in place until the components that are to be joined are brought together".
"It makes the job easier and cleaner".
Loctite 668 and Loctite 534 are available in 9 and 19g sizes, whereas Loctite 548 comes in 9 and 18g packs.
