The Technomelt Supra selection comes with a much broader application spectrum than conventional hot melts, making it suitable for a great variety of different substrates and packaging materials.

Significant cost savings, better adhesion and the eradication of stringing are important benefits that can be achieved with the latest generation of Technomelt Supra adhesives from Henkel "Competition in the consumer goods industry is tough", says Peter Brown from Henkel Technical Sales

"And that means the more efficient the production process, the greater the potential for cutting costs".

"The advantage of these innovative hot melt adhesives is that they bring down production costs while boosting performance at the same time".

The improved range comprises four products.

Supra 100 is the general purpose adhesive that covers most applications.

Where a lower viscosity and higher adhesion is needed, the choice would be Supra 120.

For applications that require a high tack and heat resistance, Supra 150 is available.

Supra 350 is used where difficult boards such as grease proof surfaces are involved.

Working alongside these enhanced products is Henkel's ProControl adhesive monitoring system.

This unit, which can be integrated into all common adhesive application systems, provides unparalleled and accurate measurement of product usage.

In turn, this enables areas to be identified where savings against existing processes could be made.

The combination of extremely high bonding power, outstanding flow behaviour and low density means the latest generation of Technomelt Supra is capable of significantly reducing adhesive consumption.

Indeed, compared with EVA-based hot melts, significant reductions in the order of 20 to 35% can be achieved.

Another benefit of the almost odourless adhesive is its exceptional stability in terms of viscosity and colour.

In addition, Technomelt Supra provides far better thermal stability than EVA-based products and creates improved flow behaviour without tailing or cracking.

Further, its self-cleaning properties ensure excellent machinability.

The Technomelt Supra selection comes with a much broader application spectrum than conventional hot melts.

It is therefore suitable for a great variety of different substrates and packaging materials including coated, lacquered or printed trays, cardboard outers, folding boxes, papers and boards.

"The characteristics of Technomelt Supra mean there is no clogging of the modules or nozzles - and this eases the wear on machines and equipment and minimises cleaning", reports Peter Brown.

"That allows maintenance intervals to be significantly extended - further reducing costs".

"What's more, expenditure for replacement parts is considerably reduced".

"And there are further savings because downtime and setup time can also be shortened, allowing production to be up and running again sooner".

"In short, this range means considerable economies for our customers".
