HSL is to run a one-day workshop on Drug and Alcohol Policy at the Health and Safety Laboratory in Buxton on Wednesday 8 November 2006.

With increasing concern about the misuse of drugs within the workplace, and the potential detrimental affect on workers safety, many employers are considering implementing a workplace drug and alcohol policy.

This workshop is designed to highlight the legal and regulatory issues relating to this sensitive area, so as to enable employer to implement a robust and fair policy that will address the needs of their organisation.

The course will cover the following issues: What is drug and alcohol work place testing? What are the different drug and alcohol policy guidelines? What are the different ways of testing? Practical aspects of a drug and alcohol policy and workplace testing.

Who should attend? The workshop is designed for occupational health providers (physicians, nurses and health and safety professionals) and Human Resource Managers who are interested in what drug and alcohol testing is, how they should go about implementing such a policy and how to oversee supervised collections.

The cost of the course is £195 plus VAT per person (includes course notes, lunch, refreshments).
